PHIBBS MECHANICAL NEWS.
ABOUT THE NATIONAL HEAVY VEHICLE REGULATOR (NHVR).
In April the Department of Transport transferred the role of of providing on-road compliance and enforcement to the NHVR. The heavy vehicle industry can expect to see compliance officers working Queensland roads. So if your heavy vehicle is stopped, the officers have authority to carry out inspections to see if you get the tick for compliance.
On road compliance includes: mass, dimension, load restraint, vehicle standards, drive fatigue, work diaries, requirements for the approval of transporting dangerous goods/explosives, licensing and registration. Expect infringements if you don’t meet the requirements or worse, prosecution for more serious offences. Check out their website nhvr.gov.au.
